Due to an abnormally dry fall in the southeastern United States, lake levels in the Catawba-Wateree River Basin have fallen below Normal Target Elevations. In addition, the status of the US Drought Monitor in the Catawba-Wateree Basin indicates conditions supporting Low Inflow Protocol (LIP) Stage 0. LIP Stage 0 is a Watch Advisory stage in which Catawba-Wateree Management Group Members begin awareness communications with the public.
During LIP Stage 0, Duke Energy will continue to monitor drought conditions in accordance with the LIP and will begin to meet monthly with the Catawba-Wateree Drought Management Advisory Group. Duke Energy will also keep federal agencies informed if future actions are taken with respect to drought conditions.
